Whether you are already a Senior Ecologist or looking to move up to this position, we will provide you with an opportunity to build on your existing experience. You will lead and deliver across a range of projects. As part of which you will have opportunities to mentor colleagues, ensure the production of high-quality deliverables/reports and engage with clients and their design teams to deliver high-quality sustainable solutions.

You will also play an integral role in the delivery of our business development strategy including finding and responding to opportunities and by supporting the business to build new service lines and business areas.

The successful applicants will be involved in all areas of our work, delivering positive change for our clients, communities, and planet, across a range of project types and sectors. With a focus on managing projects, co-ordinating resources, designing survey approaches, conducting habitat and species surveys, report writing and developing/advising on mitigation.

The London-based posts will have a focus on regional site work and/or collaborating with client project teams but will include a requirement for travel and occasional overnight stays as part of the role. We have several permanent roles available in our London office but welcome conversations from applicants in other locations (Manchester, Lichfield, Wakefield, Norwich, Cardiff and Lewes).

To be considered for the role, you will as essential criteria:

  • A full clean UK driving licence.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification (N/SVQ Level 5) in Ecology or a related subject.
  • Hold one or more Natural England (or other equivalent) protected species licence and/or hold Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) Level 3 or above.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in ecological consultancy or equivalent sectors.
  • Understanding, and experience in the application, of UK environmental legislation and policy.
  • Experience in ecological field survey work (including to UKHab), report writing (including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, management plans and Ecological Impact Assessments), and development of mitigation measures.
  • Experience of effective working with clients, contractors, sub-contractors and/or third-party stakeholders.
  • Experience in the management and delivery of high-quality and prompt project deliverables, including resource management.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or equivalent professional body with professional code of conduct.

Applications are particularly welcome from candidates who additionally meet the following desirable criteria:

  • At least one Natural England (or other equivalent) protected species licence preferably Bat Survey Level 2 (or above) or GCN Survey Level 1 (or above) licence.
  • Be able to be a named ecologist on mitigation licences.
  • Botany as a specialism.
  • At least 5 years relevant experience.

Consultancy requires knowledge of project management techniques and methodologies. We expect all candidates to have a passion for project delivery, ensuring client satisfaction is achieved on time and within budget.
