Dr Sarah Cox

Divisional Director - Ecology

Sarah joined Temple in 2016 as an Associate Director and was responsible for setting up our office in the north. Now as Head of Ecology and working in collaboration with other Temple Divisions, she is responsible for many of our larger, more complex ecology projects.

Sarah relishes a challenge and strives to foster open, transparent communication and collaborative working. During her time at Temple she has often acted as an expert witness, drafted evidence in support of Habitats Regulations Assessments, advised on Biodiversity Net Gain and Ecosystem Services assessments and drafted Ecological Impact Assessments, as well as managing the ecology elements of various nationally significant infrastructure projects. With a passion for quality, Sarah is a Chartered Ecologist and Environmentalist and volunteers as Chair of the CIEEM Registration Authority. She also acts as a mentor for prospective Chartership applicants, local university students and internal staff.

Sarah has been an ecological consultant for almost 20 years. Before joining Temple she worked for the wetland unit of the British Trust for Ornithology, followed by postdoctoral positions at Sheffield University focussing on conservation planning, green infrastructure and ecosystem services.

Alongside work, she spends her time with her young family, watching and playing sport.
